Undertow — speculative tide markers

Idea

A speculative public installation: a row of steel markers along a boardwalk, each topped at the height the tide is projected to reach in a given decade. You walk under the future.

Process

Mapped NOAA projections to physical heights, modelled the markers in Blender, and tested a 1:10 motion study showing them rising over a simulated century.

Outcome

A proposal deck and a kinetic scale model. The piece is designed to be uncomfortable to stand beneath — that’s the point.
